The Moccasins opened play in the Sunshine State Conference Tournament at Boca Raton with a 5-0 shutout of Eckerd Thursday.Â
The win improves the third-seeded Moccasins' record to 14-7 and puts them in Friday's semifinals against second-seeded Barry at 3 p.m.
After winning all three doubles matches, the 14th-ranked Moccasins needed just two singles wins to clinch the match. Ben Taylor won 6-0, 6-0 at No. 4 singles and C.J. Johnson won 6-3, 6-1 at No. 5 to give FSC the additional two wins needed. The other singles matches were not completed.
A Moccasin win against third-ranked Barry would put them in the championship match Saturday at 11:30 a.m. A loss would put them in the third-place match Saturday at 3 p.m.  Barry won the regular season match with the Moccasins 8-1 on Feb. 21.
