BOCA RATON - Rollins College swept through doubles play, then won a pair of quick singles matches as the Tars downed Florida Southern 5-0 in the 3rd-place match of the Sunshine State Conference Tournament.
Ranked #15 in the country, Rollins (17-8) got a pair of 8-2 wins from their top two doubles teams and an 8-4 win at the final position. Neil Clausen and Jeff Morris then picked up two points for the Tars in singles play to give their team a shutout win.
C.J. Johnson was on the verge of breaking up the shutout for #14 Florida Southern, leading Bill Rockwood 6-0, 5-4, but the match was left unfinished.
Florida Southern (14-9) will now await word on a possible trip to the NCAA Tournament. That announcement will be made on Wednesday, April 29.
