Mocs Win 8 Events, But Tampa Wins Meet

In their first dual meet of the season, the Moccasins received a pair of individual event wins from Bruce Janzen and Thomas Nguyen, but Tampa won the meet by a score of 140-116 Saturday at Tampa.

Janzen won the 100-yard butterfly in 53.68 and the 200-yard butterfly in 2:00.55.  Nguyen won the 100-yard backstroke in 55.14 and the 200-yard backstrokes in 2:01.01.  In addition, both swam on the first-place 200-yard medley relay team that won in 1:37.67.  

The Moccasins won eight of the 14 events.  Their other event winners were Jeb Halfacre in the 200-yard freestyle (1:45.40), Miguel Ferreira in the 200-yard backstroke (2:13.18) and the 400-yard freestyle relay team of Halfacre, Greg Gorman, Zach Edwards and Ferreira (3:17.25).

The Moccasins will go against Nova Southeastern in a dual meet Saturday at 2 p.m. at Ft. Lauderdale.
