The Moccasins head to Russellville, Ark., Thursday for the NCAA Division II South Regional. They'll leave Lakeland at 5 a.m., fly out of Tampa Thursday at 7:45 on Southwest Airlines Flight 400, arrive in Little Rock, Ark., early Thursday afternoon and take a charter bus to Russellville, which is approximately 70 miles west on I-40.
Seeded third in the eight-team regional, the Moccasins face Sunshine State Conference foe Barry in their first game Saturday at 4:30 p.m. (ET). Barry is seeded sixth. After FSC had won both regular season games, the Buccaneers upset the Moccasins 79-61 in last Saturday's semifinals of the SSC Tournament in Davie, then Barry lost to Rollins, 66-59, Sunday in the SSC Tournament championship game.
Arkansas Tech, which is 29-1 and won the Gulf South Tournament Sunday, is the number one seed and host for the South Regional. Arkansas Tech will meet eighth-seed Tuskegee in the first round. Rollins is seeded second and plays seventh-seeded Alabama-Huntsville. Valdosta State is seeded fourth and meets fifth-seeded Clark Atlanta.
The four first round-games will be played Saturday at Arkansas Tech's Tucker Coliseum. The semifinals are Sunday, with the championship game on Tuesday, Mar. 16. The winner advances to the Division II Elite Eight in Springfield, Mass., Mar. 24-25 & 27.
The Moccasins' games will be broadcast live on the internet on SportsLine Radio Network (SLRN).
