All-American Senka Softic posted wins in singles and doubles, as the 15th-ranked Moccasins topped Saint Leo 8-1 in a Sunshine State Conference match at Saint Leo Tuesday.
Snapping a two-match losing streak, the Moccasins improved to 12-2 overall, 4-2 in the SSC. Saint Leo dropped to 5-11, 0-5 in the SSC.
Softic, ranked fourth in Division II, won her singles match, 6-1, 6-2, to improve her season record to 12-2 and her career record to 67-10. She needs just five more singles wins to match the FSC career record of 72 set by Kim Smith (1983-86). Softic and doubles partner Agnese Rozite, ranked 17th in Division II, won 8-1, improving their season mark to 12-2. For Softic, it was career doubles win number 60, leaving her just six away from the FSC career doubles record of 66 set by Betsy Broadwater (1982-85).
FSC won all three doubles matches and won all but the No. 6 singles match in straight sets.
The Moccasins entertain Florida Tech Saturday at 11 a.m. on the FSC courts.
