Tony Mitchell, Kelvin Clark, Wade Kirkland and Tyler Benzel combined for nine hits and seven RBI, as the sixth-ranked Moccasins downed Flagler 9-1 Wednesday night at Henley Field.
The win boosted the Moccasins' record to 27-5 and avenged last week's 4-1 loss at Flagler, while the Saints dropped to 18-14.
Mitchell drove in the Mocs' first run with an RBI-double in the third and had an RBI-double in the eighth. Clark had a double and two singles. Kirkland drove in three runs with a two-run homer in the seventh, his eighth of the year, and an RBI-single in the eighth. Benzel had a pair of singles to extend his current hitting streak to eight straight games.
Tucker Pryor, the first of five FSC pitchers to work in the game, made the start on the mound and pitched a pre-determined three innings to get his fifth win in six decisions. Jake Guengerich, Dustin Merrell, Ryan Wolfe and Patrick Szczerba followed Pryor on the mound. The Moccasin pitchers combined for 10 strikeouts and walked just one. Flagler used seven pitchers in the game.
The Moccasins travel to Miami Shores for a three-game Sunshine State Conference series at Barry this weekend. Friday night's single game starts at 6 p.m. and Saturday's doubleheader starts at noon.
