Box Score Three-run homers by Braxton Chisholm and Tyler Benzel highlighted a seven-run eighth inning that gave the fifth-ranked Moccasins an 8-5 non-conference win at Saint Leo Tuesday night.
The win improved the Moccasins' record to 35-5 and extended their winning streak to 10 straight games, while Saint Leo fell to 16-27.
The Lions had scored twice in each of the first two innings and took a 4-1 lead to the eighth inning. Andrew Grutka was hit by a pitch to start the inning and Adam Miller ran for him. Pinch hitter Drew Morgan walked and then Chisholm delivered a 1-0 pitch over the right field wall for his second home run of the season to tie the game at 4-4. With one out, Trae Gore singled, Tony Mitchell walked and Kelvin Clark singled home Gore with the go-ahead run. After Wade Kirkland struck out, Tyler Benzel matched Chisholm's effort with another three-run blast over the right field wall for his third homer of the season.
Clark, Chisholm and Kyle Gibbs each had two hits for the Moccasins.
Tucker Pryor, who relieved starter Jake Guengerich in the third inning, picked up the win, improving his record to 6-1. He allowed no runs and no hits in 3.1 innings of work. Ryan Wolfe worked the final two innings, striking out four.
The Moccasins play a three-game series at Palm Beach Atlantic this weekend, starting with a single game Friday night at 7, followed by a Saturday afternoon doubleheader at 1.
