Mocs Start Hot, Stay Hot, Win 98-86

The Moccasins hit their first six shots of the game and never looked back en route to a 98-86 win over Malone Monday night at Jenkins Field House.

The win sends FSC into the holiday break with a 7-3 record. Malone slipped to 7-5.

Dominic Lane and Brett Bailey each recorded career scoring highs with 23 and 22 points, respectively, and Seth Evans added 19, as the Moccasins shot a season-best 60.3 percent from the field (41-68) and produced a season-high 98 points. Cameron Vines added 12 points off the bench.

Lane and Evans each connected on four three-pointers, as FSC went 8-17 from three-point range.

The Moccasins shot 54.5 percent from the field (18-33) in the first half en route to a 41-35 lead at the intermission, then shot 65.7 percent in the second half (23-35).

Bailey and Lane also led the Moccasins' rebounding effort with nine and eight, respectively.

Malone stayed in the game on the strength of 53.3 percent shooting in the second half. Twice the Pioneers got as close as five points, at 54-49 and at 78-73, but never got any closer and the Moccasins got their lead into double digits for good at the 4:40 mark, when Vines sank a pair of free throws to put the lead at 86-75.

The Pioneers were led by Isiah Elliott, who scored 27, 19 in the second half. Eric Coblentz added 24, with 18 of his points coming in the second half as well.

The Moccasins are idle until Jan. 4, when they entertain Eckerd at Jenkins Field House.
