Florida Southern Puts Grand Valley State Away Early in 7-2 Win

WINTER PARK - After winning two doubles points on tie-breakers, Florida Southern went on to win four singles matches in straight sets and defeat Grand Valley State, 7-2, in a match played at Rollins College.

Ivan Marevic and Brian deMontfort won their match at the top doubles flight, 9-7 over Trey Keating and Marc Roesslein, and the #3 flight went even further. Jorge Gutierrez and Nathan Leavitt took that one by a 9-8 score. That allowed the Moccasins (6-3) to complete the sweep in doubles, and put the Lakers (2-7) under the gun.

In singles play, Marevic, Leavitt, Benoit Paradis and C.J. Johnson all won their opening set, and all four players went on to win their second as well. Marevic's 6-3, 6-3 victory over Reosslein improved his record to 7-2 at the top singles position.

Florida Southern is off for the remainder of the weekend but will play the first of five matches in five days, beginning Monday at 3:00 p.m. against Bentley (MA).
