In a contest that saw three of the singles matches go three sets and a fourth needing a tie-breaker, the Moccasins outlasted Saint Leo 5-4 Wednesday in their Sunshine State Conference match at the FSC courts.
With the win the Moccasins improved to 12-5 overall, 3-1 in the SSC. Saint Leo dropped to 12-7, 1-3 in the SSC.
The Moccasins took a 2-1 lead after the doubles competition. After Nathan Leavitt won on a tie-breaker at No. 5 singles, Saint Leo countered with wins at No. 4 and No. 3 singles to tie the match. Ivan Marevic won in three sets at No. 1 singles to put FSC back in front 4-3, then Robbie Palmiotto delivered the clinching win for the Moccasins with a 6-1, 6-0 victory at No. 6 singles. Benoit Paradis fell in his match with a three-set loss at No. 2 singles to drop his singles record to 10-5.
Weather permitting, the Moccasins are scheduled to play Embry-Riddle Thursday at 3 p.m. at the FSC Courts. Saturday the Moccasins play their final home match of the season against fourth-ranked Barry at 3 p.m.
