Moccasins Back on Track With 8-1 Win Over Southern New Hampshire

ORLANDO - Picking up a pair of shutouts from C.J. Johnson and Benoit Paradis, and a near-shutout from Robbie Palmiotto, 7th-ranked Florida Southern defeated Southern New Hampshire, 8-1, at Liberty High School Wednesday afternoon.

Johnson and Paradis combined for an 8-0 win at number two doubles, and after the Mocs went up 3-0 with two more doubles points, both players won their singles matches by scores of 6-0, 6-0. Palmiotto was nearly perfect too, winning his match at #5 singles, 6-0, 6-1, a result that turned out to be the clinching point for the Moccasins (5-3).

The Penmen (4-4) earned their only point at #2 singles where Juan Jose Arango defeated Brian deMontfort in a 3-set match, 6-7 (5), 7-6 (5), 11-9. They also had a chance to win at #1 doubles and #1 singles, but deMontfort and Ivan Marevic prevented one of those with a 9-7 win at #1 doubles, and Marevic then took down Mitchell Dobek in three sets.

Florida Southern will be in Winter Park on Friday morning for a 9:00 a.m. match against Grand Valley State (MI).
