Box Score 1 LAKELAND -- Dean Green went a combined 6-for-8, connected for a two-run homer in game one and added a three-run double in game two as 28th ranked Barry swept a doubleheader from No. 14 Florida Southern Saturday at Henley Field.
In the opening game, Barry (24-9, 11-1) broke a scoreless tie in the fourth as the Buccaneers collected three singles in the frame off Moccasin starter Stephen Batman (4-2). Barry added a second run in the top of the fifth on a sacrifice fly.
Florida Southern (21-7, 7-2) cut into the lead with a solo homer by Mike Snyder, his seventh round-tripper of the season and the second of three hits he collected in the game.
The Buccaneers increased their lead in the seventh when Green hit his two-run homer off reliever Clay Chapman. The Moccasins rallied in the bottom of the ninth as Colin Kish led off with a single and then scored two outs later on a double by Tyler Benzel, but that was it for the Mocs.
In game two, Barry jumped on Moccasin starter Eddie Sipple (4-3) for eight runs in the opening three frames to take a 8-2 lead. Florida Southern had three singles in the first for one run while Benzel homered to lead off the second for a second run. The Buccaneers broke the game open in the fifth with two outs on four consecutive walks and a three-run double by Green for a 12-2 lead.
The Moccasins added one run in the fifth on a double by Anthony Chubb and a RBI-single by Jimmy Correnti. Florida Southern strung together singles by Colin Kish and Tony Mitchell for two runs in the sixth for their final tallies of the night. The Moccasins hurt themselves by hitting into four double plays.
Florida Southern hosts Warner in a non-conference match-up Tuesday at 7 at Henley Field.
