Box Score Led by 14 kills from freshman Kate Stromberg, the Moccasins downed Florida Tech, 14-25, 25-18, 25-18, 25-10, in their Sunshine State Conference match at Melbourne Tuesday night.
The Moccasins improved to 8-5 overall, 3-2 in the SSC, while the Panthers fell to 4-10, 1-4 in the SSC.
Stromberg was the only Moccasin with double figure kills, but she had good supporting help from Diana Castrillon, who had nine kills, Lauren Huber, who had eight, and Gabby Fernandez, who had seven.
Anna Niebuhr led the defensive effort with 15 digs, while Kendall Wilde picked up three service aces to go with 14 assists and 10 digs and Ali Skayhan delivered 27 assists and 12 digs.
The Mocs had a strong finish to wind up 2-2 on their four-match road swing. After winning the second and third sets by identical 25-18 scores, the Moccasins took a 3-0 lead in the fourth set and never trailed, scoring the last six points of the match.
FSC will play its first home match since Sept. 14 on Saturday, when the Moccasins meet Nova Southeastern at 4 p.m. at Jenkins Field House.
