Box Score While the rain didn't start falling until the fourth inning, the Moccasins started raining hits on Lincoln Memorial in the second and when it was all over, the Moccasins had pounded out 20 hits and breezed to an 18-0 win Friday night at Henley Field.
Kyle Gibbs led the hit parade with four hits, Cory Jensen picked up three and T.J. Kuban, Austin Chubb, J.J. Downum, Jimmy Correnti and Keith Curcio each had two.
Chubb, who had the game's only homer, his second of the season, drove in three runs. Jensen, Mike Snyder, Kyle Jackson, Gibbs, Curcio and Jerrod Flanagan each drove in two runs.
The Moccasins started the run barrage in the second, sending nine batters to the plate and scoring four times with two outs. In the fifth they sent 10 men to the plate and scored five runs after two were out. They capped off the night with a five-run seventh inning.
Jon Jones was the beneficiary of all the offense, picking up his first FSC win. The transfer from West Virginia walked the first two batters he faced and had four walks in the first three innings, but he didn't allow a hit until the sixth and finished with eight strikeouts in his six innings of work. Austin Barnett struck out three in two perfect innings in relief and Branden Weber pitched a scoreless ninth, allowing one hit and striking out two.
Now 3-2 on the season, the Moccasins play a doubleheader against the Railsplitters (2-4) Saturday at Henley Field starting at 1 p.m.
