The tenth-ranked Moccasins evened their recorded at 1-1 Tuesday with an 8-1 Sunshine State Conference win over Tampa at the UT Tennis Complex. This was the Moccasins' first conference match of the season.
Tampa dropped to 2-3, 0-2 in the SSC.
Florida Southern got off to a quick start with wins at both No. 1 and No. 2 doubles to take a 2-1 lead after doubles play.
The Moccasins went on to sweep all six singles matches for the 8-1 win. Sabine Goge, Magda Riutort, Joalis Dominguez, and Olivia Spagnuolo all scored points in both singles and doubles play. Christie Nunnemann picked up a three-set win at number-five singles, while Jessica Cove had a 6-2, 6-2 win at the number-six position.
The Moccasins will travel to Miami Shores Saturday to face fourth-ranked Barry at 10 a.m. They return to Lakeland to host top-ranked Lynn Sunday at 11 a.m. on the FSC courts.
