MIAMI SHORES - Laura Wichmann and Christie Nunnemann got Florida Southern on the board early with a win at #3 doubles, but 4th-ranked Barry took the final doubles match and swept through singles for an 8-1 win over the 10th-ranked Moccasins.
Barry (4-0, 3-0) took the early lead in the match with an 8-3 win at #1 singles before Wichmann and Nunnermann defeated Olivia Matuszak and Sarah Krohnen 8-5 to tie the score at one apiece. The Bucs were able to go back on top though when Vojka Lukic and Linda Fritschken downed the nation's 20th-ranked doubles team of Sabine Goge and Magda Riutort, 8-3.
In singles play, Barry won all six matches in straight sets, with the closest scores coming at the top flight. That was where Lukic defeated Goge 6-1, 6-3 to end the day for Barry.
Florida Southern will be at home on Sunday at 11:00 a.m. to face top-ranked Lynn University.
