Everybody In The Lineup Gets A Hit As Mocs Top Eckerd 8-1

Matt Fuglesang pitched 6.2 scoreless innings and everybody in the batting order had at least one hit, as the Moccasins topped Eckerd 8-1 Friday at St. Petersburg in the opening game of their three-game Sunshine State Conference series.

Striking out eight, walking five and scattering five hits, Fuglesang raised his record to 4-1.  Relievers Mike Czenszak, Jake Guengerich and Anthony Dovale finished up.  A two-out error in the bottom of the ninth inning gave Eckerd an unearned run and prevented the shutout.

T.J. Kuban, Mike Snyder, Kyle Jackson, Kyle Gibbs and J.J. Downum each had two hits in the game.  Snyder drove in three runs and Kuban and Gibbs each drove in two.

The Moccasins improved to 13-9 overall, 4-3 in the SSC.  Eckerd suffered its fifth straight loss and fell to 11-9, 0-4 in the SSC.

The two teams play a doubleheader Saturday at 1 p.m. at Eckerd.
