Moccasins Over .500 With 8-1 Win Over #25 Queens

Facing their eighth ranked opponent of the season, the Moccasins swept the doubles matches en route to a 8-1 win over #25 Queens (N.Y) Friday afternoon on FSC Courts. With the win the Moccasins, ranked #23 in the country, improve their record to 10-9, while Queens falls to 5-2.

Nathan Leavitt and Vladimir Barabash put Florida Southern in an early lead with a 9-1 win at number three doubles. Benoit Paradis and Emanuel Lueber followed with an 8-5 win at number two doubles. Ivan Marevic and Jorge Gutierrez defeated #15 Attila Toth and Nikolaj Wulff 8-5 at number one singles to give the Mocs a 3-0 lead.

Leavitt and Guiterrez got the Moccasins started in singles play with straight set wins. Gutierrez’s 6-2, 6-4 win over Diego Medrano clinched the match for the Moccasins.

After Claudio Andrade scored Queens' lone point, Marevic defeated Andre Pellegrino in three sets 6-7 (8-10), 7-6 (8-6), 10-7. Paradis and Lueber closed the match with three set victories.

The Moccasins return to action Tuesday when they host Lindenwood at 3 p.m. at FSC Courts.
