Mocs Rally for 6 In 9th To Beat PBA 9-6

Box Score

Trailing 6-3 going to the ninth inning, the Moccasins rallied for 6 runs to top Palm Beach Atlantic 9-6 Friday night at Jupiter.

Kyle Jackson started the inning by striking out, but he reached safely on a third strike wild pitch.  Colin Kish singled up the middle and Kyle Gibbs was hit by a pitch to load the bases with no outs.  J.J. Downum scored Jimmy Perron, who ran for Jackson, with a sacrifice fly.  Cory Jensen reached on a fielder's choice that scored Kish.  Keith Curcio's infield single scored Gibbs to tie the game, then Mike Snyder drilled a double to left center that scored Jensen and Curcio to put the Mocs in front.  Austin Chubb followed with an infield single and T.J. Kuban drove in the final run with an infield out.

Nate Carter came on to pitch the bottom of the ninth.  After giving up a leadoff double, he retired the next two batters, but walked Ethan Perla to bring the tying run to the plate before striking out pinch-hitter Matt Civetti to earn his eighth save and preserve the win for Austin Jackson (3-2).

PBA scored first, taking advantage of three Moccasin errors in the third to score five unearned runs.  The Moccasins got three runs back in the fourth on an infield out by Gibbs and a two-run single by Downum.

Clay Chapman made the pitching start for the Moccasins and did not allow an earned run in 4.2 innings.

The Moccasins (19-13) and Sailfish (14-13) play a doubleheader Saturday at 1 p.m. at Palm Beach Gardens High School.
