In the first quarter it looked like the game would be a repeat of the Mocs’ last outing against Saint Leo, only three days ago, as FSC jumped out to an early 3-0 lead 10 minutes into the game. Brian Weil started the scoring for the Mocs, as he has done the last two games; All-DSC Second-Team member Dane Sorensen adding the next two goals for the Mocs. After FSC opened quarter number two with a goal the Lions took over finishing out the half on a 3-0 run. The Mocs had chances on goal as time expired but nothing would split the pipes and the two teams headed into halftime tied at 4-4.

SLU continued their scoring streak in the third quarter pushing their run six straight goals to take a 7-4 lead heading into the fourth and final period.

Leo started the fourth period adding another goal to extend their lead to 8-4 before Chris Murphy put in an unassisted goal to end the 7-0 run by the Lions. Kevin Naslonski, added his second goal of the game to bring the Mocs back within in two, 8-6. The Mocs’ comeback faded however as SLU’s Tom Horn tallied his fifth point and his second goal of the game to give the Lions a 9-6 lead. The Lions added one more goal before the end of the game to reach the 10-6 final
