Box Score LAKELAND, FL - Florida Southern College volleyball earned a 3-0 sweep of Embry-Riddle it its penultimate home match on Friday at Jenkins Field House. The Moccasins (18-9) topped the Eagles (13-13) for the fifth-straight time, and improved to 10-2 at home this season.
HOW IT HAPPENED
• Florida Southern dominated the match and set the tone early with a 25-13 first-set win. The set looked as if it might be close throughout as the teams were knotted at 5-5 early on, but the Mocs used a 7-1 lead to blow the match wide open and take a 12-6 lead. ERAU would get no closer than five points the rest of the way as Florida Southern took a 1-0 match lead.
• The second set proved to be tougher sledding for the Mocs, as the Eagles fought their way to an 18-16 lead late in the set. That's when Florida Southern called a timeout, and was able to swing the momentum back in their favor. Following the timeout, the Mocs went on a 5-1 run to grab a 21-19 lead, and scored four of the next six points for a 25-21 second-set win.
• The Moccasins led for much of the third set and looked as if they may cruise to a third-set win as it led 24-19 in the late stages. However, Embry-Riddle scored five in a row to make it 24-24, but the Mocs earned the enxt two points for a 26-24 third-set win to close out the match.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS
• Florida Southern improved to 484-120 all-time at Jenkins Field House, including 10-2 this year. The Mocs have won 31 of 44 sets played in Jenkins Field House this season.
• Brindl Langley finished with 20 digs to push her career total to 1,806. She needs just nine more digs to pass Sara Stewart (1,814) for the most in school history. Langley should break the record on Saturday against Rollins.
• Anna Tovo tallied a match-high 15 kills while recording 10 digs. She has recorded 10 or more kills in 40-straight matches dating back to last season.
• Allie Geary notched 14 kills on the night. She also added one dig and a solo block. Nicole Mattson recorded nine kills and 16 digs to go along with a block assist.
• Bethany Besancenez tallied 40 assists to push her career total to 2,098. She ranks 10th in school history and is 607 away form moving into ninth place.

• Florida Southern closes out its home schedule against Rollins on Saturday at 4 p.m. at Jenkins Field House. The team will honor its four seniors (Melissa Cárdenas, Brindl Langley, Rachel Mostert, and Jessica Sullivan) before the match.
