Box Score WINTER PARK, FL - Brindl Langley inched closer to the school record for career digs as Florida Southern College volleyball picked up a 3-1 win at Rollins on Tuesday. The Moccasins (17-9, 9-5 SSC) stayed in contention for a Sunshine State Conference title with the victory over the Tars (11-15, 3-8).
HOW IT HAPPENED
• Florida Southern and Rollins played a thrilling first set that featured 16 ties and nine lead changes. The contest remained even until just past the midway point, when the Tars used a used a 4-0 run to turn a 15-13 deficit into a 17-15 advantage. The Mocs countered with a 4-0 run of their own later on to grab a 22-20 lead and had Rollins on the ropes at 23-21. The Tars were able to respond and closed out the set with four-straight points to earn a 25-23 first-set win.
• Trailing 7-5 in the second set, Florida Southern used a 4-0 run to take a 9-7 lead and would not trail again. Rollins was able to close the gap to one point (19-18) late in the set, but the Mocs reeled off a 5-1 run to take a 24-19 lead en route to a 25-21 second-set win.
• The Moccasins largely dominated the third set thanks in part to a 4-0 run at the midway point to turn a 10-8 edge into a 14-8 advantage. The run would give FSC the momentum it needed to take a 25-20 set win and a 2-1 match lead.
• Florida Southern saw an early three-point lead (11-8) slip away as Rollins was able to tie things at 11-11, but the Mocs responded with five-straight points to go up 16-11. It would be all that FSC would need as it rolled to a 25-19 fourth-set win to close out the match.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS
• Florida Southern improve to 86-8 all-time against Rollins, including 36-4 when facing the Tars on the road. The win was the Mocs' fourth-straight against the Tars.
• Brindl Langley finished with 18 digs to push her career total to 1,786. She needs just 29 more to pass Sara Stewart (1,814) for first in school history. Langley is projected to break the record against Rollins on Saturday, which is also Senior Day for the FSC libero and three of her teammates.
• Anna Tovo tallied 21 kills in the contest to give her 39-straight matches with double-digit kills. It was the fifth time this year that Tovo has eclipsed 20 kills in a match. She also added eight digs on the night.
• Nicole Mattson added 12 kills on the night to go along with 13 digs. She has recorded 10 or more kills in six-straight matches. The performance marked her ninth double-double of the season (kills/digs)
• Bethany Besancenez recorded 52 assists to move her career total to 2,058. She currently ranks 10th in school history in career assists and is 647 away from moving into ninth place. Her career average of 8.99 assists per set ranks eighth in FSC history.

• Florida Southern returns home for a pair of matches, beginning with Embry-Riddle at 7 p.m. on Friday. The Moccasins' home finale will take place on Saturday at 4 p.m. against Rollins. The match will be the final home contest for Melissa Cárdenas, Brindl Langley, Rachel Mostert, and Jessica Sullivan.
