Moccasins Fall to Top-Ranked Lynn

LAKELAND, FL - Florida Southern College women's tennis won two of three doubles matches, but was unable to hold off a strong singles showing by No. 1 Lynn as the Moccasins (1-1, 1-1 SSC) fell to the Fighting Knights (5-1, 1-0), 6-3, in Sunshine State Conference action on Friday at the Wynee Warden Tennis Center.

After Lynn scored the first point with an 8-1 win at No. 2 doubles, the Mocs quickly responded with victories at the No. 1 and No. 3 spots. FSC's top duo of Sasha Nionova/Selin Devrimci earned an 8-6 win to tie things up, and the tandem of Lorena Rionda/Lola Asis grabbed a 9-7 victory to give the Mocs a 2-1 edge after doubles play.

The Knights won five of six singles matchups to come away with the win. Klaudia Boczova scored an upset win over Nionova at the No. 1 spot (6-3, 6-0), and Lynn's nationally ranked Diana Bogolii (No. 16) and Natalie Kallmunzerov (No. 15) earned victories at the No. 2 and No. 3 spots. Florida Southern's Natalija Popovic was the Mocs' lone singles winner with a hard-fought win at the No. 5 spot (7-5, 2-6, 10-8).

Florida Southern returns to action at Saint Leo on Wednesday at 3 p.m.
