FT. LAUDERDALE, FL - Florida Southern College women's tennis suffered its first conference loss of the season on Friday afternoon, falling 5-2 to Nova Southeastern in Ft. Lauderdale. The No. 12 Moccasins (12-3, 3-1 SSC) won the doubles point but could not hold off the No. 8 Sharks (16-1, 5-1 SSC) in singles play. The loss is the third-straight against Nova Southeastern, although Florida Southern still leads the all-time series, 18-8.
Lola Asis won two 6-3 sets in the No. 6 singles flight to improve to 11-3 in singles play, tying Lorena Rionda for the lead in singles wins. The No. 2 doubles pairing of Minnie Kim and Magda Stepnik remained undefeated in doubles play, improving to 6-0 after winning 6-4 over Daniela Obando and Chantal Nosievici. Kim and Stepnik remain tied for the lead in doubles victories with records of 11-3 and 11-2, respectively.
