Box Score LAKELAND, Fla. – The No. 8 Florida Southern women's lacrosse team (3-2) cruised to a 19-3 win over No. 21 Seton Hill (2-2) on Saturday night at Moccasin Field. Southern built a 10-0 lead in the first half and never looked back.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- 1st Half | The Mocs jumped out quickly, as sophomore midfielder Brenna Smith scored an unassisted goal just 45 seconds into the game. Just 36 seconds later, senior attack Riley Bannatyne scored the first of her four goals on the game on a free position goal.
- Midway through the period, the Mocs scored three consecutive extra man goals, from senior middie Marina Jozokos, Bannatyne, and senior attack Ashley Norberg.
- After Seton Hill trimmed the lead to eight, at 10-2, the Mocs scored two more man-up goals in the final 1:03 of the half, from senior Grace Glinecki and Jozokos. Southern led 12-2 at the half.
- 2nd Half | Seton Hill opened the second half with their third goal at 28:31, making the score 13-2. From there, Southern scored seven consecutive goals from seven different players for the 19-3 final.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS
- Bannatyne and Jozokos each had four goals to lead the Mocs, while Smith added three. Glinecki and Jozokos each added a pair of assists.
- Senior Alanna Zambetti earned her second win on the season, making five saves in the first half. Junior Brittany Iamele made one save in just over 18 minutes of action in the second half.
- Southern out-shot SHU 35-10.
- FSC scored five free position goals, while SHU recorded one.
