LAKELAND, Fla. - Florida Southern College men's tennis won its ninth-straight match on Tuesday afternoon at the Wynee Warden Tennis Center as it silenced Hillsdale College, 4-0. The No. 18 Moccasins (10-1) and Chargers (6-2) only played out five of the nine flights.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
- The Mocs earned the double point as Danny Thomas and Chase Martin won 6-1 in the No. 3 flight and Pablo Salamanca and Valentin Hertweck battled to win the No. 2 flight, 6-4. Erik Nordblom and Andres Cabezas had their No. 1 flight go unfinished at 5-4.
- Salamanca earned his second win of the day with a 6-1, 6-3 decision in the No. 5 flight while Cabezas took the No. 3 flight, 6-2, 7-5. The Mocs clinched and ended the match after Oscar Sohl won 7-5, 6-1 in the No. 4 flight.
- Three singles flights went unfinished, as Erik Nordblom was winning 6-2, 4-5 in the first flight, Hertweck was trailing 3-6, 3-4 in the No. 2 flight, and Thomas was leading 5-1 in the No. 6 flight.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS
- The Moccasins' 10-1 record is the best start to a season since 2007 when the program went 15-1 to start the season.
- FSC is now 1-0 all-time against Hillsdale.
- Martin and Thomas are a team-best 4-0 for the season as a doubles pairing.

Southern will continue its homestand with four more matches in-a-row. The Mocs will host Bluefield State, Texas-Tyler, Northwood and Auburn Montgomery from Tuesday through Saturday. The first two matches will be at 3 p.m. while Friday's contest is at 4 p.m. and Saturday's at 11 a.m.
