SAINT LEO, Fla. - The nationally-ranked Florida Southern College men's cross country team finished 11th at the NCAA Division II National Preview, hosted by Saint Leo University at the Abbey Golf Course in Saint Leo, Florida, on Saturday morning.
The race provided the Moccasins with their first look at the course, which will be the host site for the South Regional and Division II National Championships later this year.
FSC head coach
Matt Levassiur opted to rest several top runners as the team gears up for national-caliber competition in the coming weeks. The partial squad scored 307 points, which was good for 11th place in a deep field.
The Mocs were led by sophomore
Noah Ellenback, who blazed the eight-kilometer race in 27:47 and placed 64th. Only a few places back in 70th was
Adam Berriz, who had an explosive performance. The freshman from Orlando, Florida, posted a time of 28:07 in his first ever 8K. He was followed by a solid pack of three runners to close out the scoring five, including sophomore
Luke Dickinson (28:22), junior
Keith Kelley (28:30), and freshmen
Seth Augustynowski (28:32) in 78th, 81st, and 82nd, respectively.
