Three Mocs Score As Women's Soccer Defeats Lynn 3-1

LAKELAND, Fla. - Three Mocs scored for the Florida Southern women's soccer team to end their losing streak as Elena Brkic, Tatum Albrecht, and Meghan Kriney each scored to defeat Lynn University 3-1 at Moccasin Field on Saturday night. The Mocs move to 4-4-0 on the season and 1-2-0 in the Sunshine State Conference, while the Knights fall to 2-4-1 overall and 1-3-0 in conference action.

How It Happened

  • Florida Southern's first goal was scored in the 15th minute as Albrecht hit a cross to find the foot of Brkic and score her second goal of the year to put the Mocs up early 1-0.
  • The score remained 1-0 FSC, until the Knights broke through with a late offensive outburst, scoring  five minutes later to tie the game going into the half.
  • In the 48th minute, Albrecht tallied her first goal of her senior season as the Mahwah, N.J. native was set up by a long pass from Caitlyn Lowery.
  • As time was dwindling down Kriney's goal found the back of the net after two assists from Lowery and Rachel Peck at the 75:35 mark closing the night with a 3-1 win for the Mocs at home.

In Their Own Words
Head Coach Paul Lawrence when asked about
"This is the most complete performance we have had all year. It's a sign of a growing team to come back after scoring early in the first. I honestly think we have been unlucky in some games, but I knew we needed a complete performance and I'm glad it came tonight. We have been down after losing four games straight so we are finally turning things around."

Up Next

On Wednesday, October 6, the Mocs will host Nova Southeastern University for another SSU matchup  on their home pitch at Moccasin Field. Kickoff is scheduled for 7:00 p.m.
