LAKELAND, Fl. – After a scoreless first half,
Caitlyn Lowery notched two goals early in the second half before the University of Tampa netted three unanswered goals to hold on a 3-2 victory over the Florida Southern College women's soccer team Wednesday night.

Jenny Staten was put to work early with two saves in the first half as Florida Southern (4-5-0, 1-3-0 SSC) worked to spread the field offensively. The Spartans (5-3-1, 4-1-0 SSC) had two saves by keeper Lovisa Camel in a Mocs push to end the first half. Lowery put the Mocs on the board first with a successful penalty kick and followed it up with another goal two minutes later after a battle with the Tampa keeper. Michelle Kanaskie scored first for the Spartans off a pass from Katherine Hostage, which led to two more goals for Tampa in the next four minutes by Elena Barr and Hostage. - Lowery earned her first goal from a penalty kick in the 61st minute, only to score again two minutes later from a mishandle by the Spartan goalie.
- Kanaskie scored first for the Spartans off a pass from Katherine Hostage in the 72nd minute.
- Tampa tied the game with a goal by Barr from a Jackie Morris pass.
- Just two minutes after the tied game, Hostage netted her own goal from a Stephanie DeLaforcade.
- A couple great opportunities to tie the game, including a corner with one minute remaining and a shot by Benson that was saved by Tampa's Camel.
