Mocs Show Out In An 8-0 Win On Senior Night Against Eckerd

LAKELAND, Fla. -- The Florida Southern men's soccer team sent their seniors off in fashion on senior night by posting an 8-0 shutout win over Eckerd College.

The first half of the match was all Florida Southern (4-6-3, 3-4-1) as they put five goals past Eckerd College (2-10-1, 1-6-1). The Mocs took shots on goal early and often in the very high paced first half. In the 11th minute James Meehan scored his first goal of the game on a beautiful pass for an assist from Jake Starling. Meehan would add his second of the game in the 27th minute on an unassisted goal opportunity. The rest of the first half was all about Julian Jordan-Canosa as he had a first half hat-trick. His first goal of the night, and the third for the Mocs, came in the 34th minute on the 5th assist of the season for Leoluca Diefenbach. Just four minutes later, in the 38th minute, Canosa stepped up on a penalty kick that he won on a through ball. With a large amount of composure, he stepped up and chipped it through the middle for his second goal of the night. He added his third of the night just over a minute later in the 39th minute on a pass from Christoph Gums.

The second half continued to be all Mocs as they scored three more in the second half. Edu Capote added a goal for himself on senior night in the 51st minute on a Meehan assist making the score 6-0 in favor of the Mocs. Three minutes later in the 54th minute, Meehan would complete his own hat-trick thanks to a pass from Santiago Erazo. The Mocs and Tritons would go back and forth causing the defensive line for the Mocs to fall back and hold possession. To cap off his senior night, Meehan would add a fourth goal, his ninth of the season, on a pass from Ethan Huggins, giving Huggins his first collegiate assist.
