WINTER HAVEN, Fla. – Florida Southern volleyball loses in straight sets against the University of West Florida in game two of the SSC/GSC Crossover tournament.
Florida Southern (9-8, 6-5) had a close first set but lost the tie-breaking points. Unable to recover, West Florida (23-1, 10-0) continued to win the next two sets.
HOW IT HAPPENED
First Set: West Florida 28, Florida Southern 26
The Mocs had a 5-1 start, but the Argonauts rallied to stay even for the rest of the set. Florida Southern finished with ten total kills in the set, including one from
Emily Crescenzi to force a tie-breaker set. Despite a service error by UWF to put the Mocs within one, the Argonauts won three straight points to win the set.
Second Set: West Florida 25, Florida Southern 21
A relatively even set kept the Mocs close, but UWF Stayed consistent to stay slightly ahead. Florida Southern had nine kills in the set with six errors. The Argonauts had a 4-1 run at the end of the set to seal the win and go up by two sets.
Third Set: West Florida 25, Florida Southern 11
The Mocs were unable to find a rhythm as the one loss Argonauts sealed the win in a 25-11 fashion. Seven errors by Florida Southern allowed UWF to stay ahead and keep the match win.
