HOW IT HAPPENED
1st Set | The Mocs started up in the first set with an early 2-0 lead but the Panthers went on a 6-1 run immediately after but it was not over for FSC as they tied the game three times before Florida Tech took off after the 14-14 score to make it 18-14. The Mocs tried to fight back but set one was won by the Panthers.
-
Florida Southern and Florida Tech each had 17 kills apiece but the Panthers hitting percentage was a .444 compared to the Mocs .317.
-
Ali Travis was the leader in kills to start it off with seven kills.
2nd Set | Florida Southern rebounded with a big set two win, fending off a late Florida Tech rally that wasn't close until the tie breaking 17-17 margin. The Mocs held the lead the entire set except for the tie at 17-17 and 20-20, but eventually broke away winning by just two points.
-
Both teams were neck and neck with kills as Southern dished out 14 and Florida Tech 12 of their own.
-
After the set was all tied up at 17 all, Mackenzie Petermann broke away with three back-to-back-to-back kills for the Mocs to never look back and take it away at 21-20.
-
Travis was the one to seal the fate for the Panthers in set two setting up the remainder of the sets to go the Mocs way.
3rd Set | With a big and early lead to start off you would think the Mocs had this one in the bag but a late 5-0 rally from the Panthers tied it all at 18-18, but Southern's offense was no match as they won 25-22.
-
Just like the sets before FSC started it off with the first point of the set, this one coming in from Petermann from setter Cassidy Markel.
-
It was several errors from the Panthers that allowed the Mocs to have such success but Emma Shaddix, Tierra Porter, and Jana Gilic all made their marks in the set win.
-
Another late rally by Florida Tech came short, as the Mocs won 25-22.
4th Set | It was the opposite for set four as the Mocs started down by two and could not tie it until the 14-14 split. It was on a Petermann kill, followed by five errors from the Panthers to give FSC the momentum to take home the win.
-
It was a total come from behind win for the Mocs as they were down the majority of the final set.
-
Petermann continued to be hot in the final set, taking the team on her back to come within two of the Panthers.
-
Porter was the other factor allowing the Mocs to come within one, followed by a Panther serving error to tie it all and allow FSC to take home another victory.
