Staten Tallies Seven Saves in 0-0 Draw Against #20 Florida Tech

MELBOURNE, Fl. – Florida Southern College junior goalkeeper Jenny Staten finished with seven saves in a double overtime draw against #20 Florida Tech in a women's soccer conference game at Rick Stottler Field in Melbourne on Saturday night.
 
The Moccasins dominated the offensive push in the first half with four shots in the half, including three shots and one shot on goal by Tatum Albrecht. Florida Southern (4-5-1, 1-3-1) kept the Panthers at bay for a scoreless first half. In the 58th minute, Florida Tech (4-2-3, 1-2-2) had a penalty opportunity but not enough with a huge save by Staten to keep the game even. Staten had three saves in the second half as the game went into double overtime.
 
Unable to get a shot in the two overtimes, the Mocs played a defensive game with four shots by the Panthers in overtime. Fatigue played a factor with three yellow cards issued in extra time, but Staten held in with three crucial saves in overtime. A 0-0 draw at the end of 2 OT over a ranked opponent finished the night for the women's team.
