CLEVELAND, Tenn. – Florida Southern College women's basketball picked up their first win of the season against the University of Alabama in Huntsville Saturday afternoon. The 62-58 win wrapped up the 2021 GSC/SSC Challenge at Paul Dana Walker Arena at Lee University. The Moccasins (1-1) converted points on 12 UAH turnovers and 15 second chance opportunities as the Chargers (0-2) finished the GSC/SSC Challenge without a win.
Two Moccasin players scored points in double digits for Florida Southern to gain their first win of the season. Whitney Jacob had a her first double-double as a Moc followed by freshman, Arielle Dabu with double-digit points.
"It was good to get a win today over a good UAH team after a tough loss last night," said head coach Betsy Harris. "We did not shoot the ball well either day, against Lee we could not overcome a bad first half of play. The second half we competed much better. We were able to stay in the gam against UAH because of Whitney's scoring and Arielle's tough plays on both ends of the floor. We still have a ways to go on being the team I know we are capable of being. They were good games to experience before our first conference game next Saturday at Barry."
