Brinton Sets Women's Swimming School Record for 200 Fly

LAKELAND, FLA. – The Florida Southern women's swimming team dropped both meets to the University of Tampa on Friday afternoon. The Spartans took the first meet 77-53, and the second meet, 71-58. Freshman Allie Brinton set a school record in the 200 fly during the second meet of the day.  

HOW IT HAPPENED

MEET 1:

• The Mocs opened the meet with a victory in the 200 IM as a team of Maria Di Bella, Emily Peck, Brinton, and Jasmin Hoffmann took the race by a time of 1:48.81. Southern's "B" relay of Teagan Michalek, Brooke Brennan, Nele Stroebel, and Kimmy Chang finished third by a time of 1:50.70.  
• Making her collegiate debut in her first individual race, Michalek posted a time of 59.99 to take first place in 100 back. The Mocs would add points in 100 breast as the freshman duo of Peck and Stephanie Suarez placed second and third, respectively.
• Swimming for the first time as a collegiate student-athlete, freshman Allie Brinton raced to a school record setting 2:07.85 in the 200 fly. Brinton broke a record set by Rebeka Dics back in 2019.
• Hoffmann would claim her second victory on the day as she narrowly defeated Tampa's Kristen Wagner in the 50 free.  

MEET 2:

• Freshman Jasmin Hoffmann added another victory to her total as she opened the second meet with a 53.67 time in the 100 free. Fellow freshman Emily Peck also added a victory to her resume as she claimed the 200 back by a time of 2:08.26.
• Sophomore Annalise Eisold posted a second place finish in the 200 breast finishing with a time of 2:30.98.
• Brinton would claim another second place finish in the fly as she posted a time of 58.14 in the 100 fly.
• Peck earned another victory on the night as she posted a time of 2:10.07 in the 200 IM for her second victory.
