Box Score ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. – The No. 11 Florida Southern College men's tennis team opened the 2021 season with a 5-2 win at Eckerd College on Friday night. Originally scheduled for Saturday afternoon, the match was moved due to impending inclement weather.
Eckerd took an early 2-1 lead through doubles action, as
Brian Pham and
Pablo Salamanca won for FSC at second doubles, 6-0.
Moving to singles play,
Tim Becker tied the score at 2-2, as he won at fourth singles, 6-0, 6-0.
Valentin Hertweck finished next, at third singles, with a 6-2, 6-2 win.
Also winning single matches were
Brandon Pham at No. 2 (6-2, 6-3),
Chase Martin at No. 5 (6-4, 6-4), and
Oscar Sohl at No. 6 (6-1, 6-4).
The Mocs return to play on Saturday, March 13, with the home opener against Palm Beach Atlantic.
