BOCA RATON, Fla. – The Florida Southern volleyball team dropped a tough Sunshine State Conference match on the road at Lynn Friday night, 3-0. The Fighting Knights, who have dropped just one home match all season, took the match in straight-sets 25-18, 25-11, 26-24.

The loss drops the Moccasins' record to 13-10 overall and 6-7 in SSC play. The Fighting Knights improved to 18-5 on the year and 10-4 in league action.

Junior
Mackenzie Petermann was the lone Moc to reach double-figures in kills as she tallied 11 in the match. She added nine digs and a pair of blocks including one solo stop. Sophomore
Madison Fowler finished second on the team with six kills on just 13 swings with one error for a .385 hitting percentage. Graduate student
Emma Shaddix added five kills, a pair of digs and a service ace. Shaddix took just 15 swings to achieve her five kills for a .333 hitting percentage.

Mika Garza dished out 29 assists while picking up two digs and a service ace. Graduate student libero
Beatrice Formilan led the backline with 16 digs while senior
Ali Travis added 10 digs and a solo block.

The Fighting Knights were led by Nadia Lindner who had a match-high 18 kills while Paige Barash added a big double-double with 11 kills and 16 digs.

Lynn opened the match with a 10-1 run and looked to be carrying the momentum from its 3-0 sweep of No. 16 Barry Tuesday night into Friday night's contest. An 11-4 run by the Mocs late in the period cut the lead to four at 20-18 but the Knights responded with a 5-0 run of their own to take the set 25-18.

The second set was all Lynn as the Fighting Knights took a 15-4 lead and never looked back before capturing a 25-11 victory. The third set looked to be going the exact same direction as the first two as the Fighting Knights opened with a 7-1 run. FSC responded with a 9-2 run of its own to take an 11-10 lead, the Mocs latest lead of any set. The two teams traded small runs as the score remained within a few points the rest of the way. The Fighting Knights forced their first match point at 24-22 but the Mocs would not go away easily as they fought off a pair of points to tie the set at 24-24. Back-to-back kills from Lindner ended the set and the match 26-24.

Florida Southern will not have much time to dwell on the match as the Mocs will be right back in action tomorrow afternoon at 4 p.m. as they travel to Nova Southeastern for another SSC match-up.
