Mocs Finish Successful Tournament at Saint Leo Hidden Duals

SAINT LEO, Fla. - The Florida Southern College men's tennis team made the short trip over to Saint Leo University this past weekend to compete at the Saint Leo Hidden Duals.

The Mocs had a busy weekend as they concluded their 2022-2023 fall schedule. As the Mocs look ahead to their spring season, they competed against Flagler College, Saint Leo University, and Eastern Florida State University.

Day one of singles competition saw Reese Hilsen and Edoardo Melindo each win their flights in two sets. In Friday's doubles competition, the pairing of Inaki Braun Simo / Mario Garoz won their match after going to a tiebreaker, and the pairing of Danny Thomas / Ryan Rajakar picked up a doubles victory as well. Other Moccasin competitors included Chris Fok Kow, Alex Fascio, John Gidefjord, and Matteo Feggi.

On day two of singles competition, Braun Simo, Fascio, and Hilsen all won their singles matchups against their opponents from Eastern Florida State College. Braun Simo had a battle that went to a tiebreaker, which he came out with a 10-5 advantage, as did Fascio's flight. JP Fujiwara took his battle to a tiebreaker, but narrowly missed out 10-12, as did Gidefjord (8-10).

The competition wrapped up on day three of the Hidden Duals with a pair of doubles victories. Braun Simo / Mario Garoz won their match in tiebreak fashion (their second doubles win of the weekend), while Thomas / Rajakar took their match 6 - 2.

Now that the fall season is wrapped up, the Mocs will look to stay sharp between now and the start of their spring season. With the national championship not until May, the Mocs have a lot of opportunities to grow and make another NCAA regional appearance.
