Megan Dzikas'12 earned her first win for FSC as
Ashley Shell scored 19 points to lead the Florida Southern women's basketball team to a dominant victory over Alabama-Huntsville with a final score of 75-57. After the non-conference win, the Mocs move to 1-1 on the season.
Shell added seven rebounds and four assists to her high-scoring afternoon.
Domenica Zamora led the squad in assists with five while also managing to put up 11 points and secure six rebounds. They were joined in double-digit scoring by
Arielle Dabu, who contributed 10 points.

Anna Denes also made her presence known with nine points and seven rebounds.
In the first quarter of play, Huntsville gave Florida Southern a bit of a scare as they kept the Mocs within one point and even led for several minutes throughout the quarter. In the second quarter, however, the Mocs clamped down on the Chargers and outscored them 22-9 to take a 39-25 lead going into the half.
In the second half, the Mocs continued to pour on the offensive side led by Shell who posted 15 points in the second half. FSC ran away with the game, outscoring Huntsville 36-32 in the second half.
The Mocs bested the Chargers in virtually every statistical category. They out-rebounded the Chargers 38-33 and scored an incredible 25 points off turnovers. Additionally, the Mocs scored 25 points off the bench led by freshman
Sydney Gomes and Division I transfer
Maria Llorente.

The Mocs make their home-opener in Jenkins field house with their first conference contest on Saturday, November 19 as they take on Palm Beach Atlantic. Tip-off is set for 5:30 PM.
