TAMPA, Fla. – The No. 10 Florida Southern College men's swimming team lost a close battle against Sunshine State Conference rival Tampa, ranked 5
th in the nation, Friday afternoon at the Riseman Aquatics Center.
The Mocs had several top finishes and finished with 107 points compared to the Spartans 151 points and dual meet win.
Florida Southern got the first individual event win of the afternoon with the 200 free after
Keith Peristeridis, SSC Swimmer of the Week a couple of weeks ago, finished first with a time of 1:41.25. The Mocs continued the momentum with a more event wins with
Brandon Wilson in the 100 back, and 100 breast by
Matteo Zampese.
Nicko Peristeridis had another great meet, winning the 200 breast, with older brother Keith tallying his second event win in the 500 free right after. Zampese got his second event win of the meet with the 200 IM and did his part in helping secure a 400 medley relay win to start the meet.
The Mocs will have a quick turnaround with a home meet against Lynn tomorrow morning, set for a 10 a.m. start at the Nina B. Hollis Wellness Center Pool.
