ST. AUGUSTINE, Fla. – A tough day on the road as the Florida Southern College men's tennis team lose 6-1 to Flagler College at the Flagler Tennis Center.
The Mocs (0-2) fought hard in the doubles competition but were unable to get the point. The Saints (2-0), registering votes in the latest ITA Division II rankings, remain undefeated on the year winning five of the six singles matches.
In doubles play, a pairing of
Oscar Sohl and
Chris Fok Kow were close in a 6-4 loss to Flagler's Holzmann and Lemken. During the singles competition, Sohl had the only win for the Mocs after beating Flagler's Ong-Patzwald 6-2, 6-4.
Valentin Hertweck had another strong performance, nearly taking down Oscar Del Granado in the first set, but lost 7-6 (7-2). Hertweck's second set was close but dropped the set and win for Flagler.
Elliott Altman battled No. 31 Nikita Tatyanin, but dropped his match 6-3, 6-1.
Erik Nordblom and
Brian Pham also represented Florida Southern in their respective matches. Fok Kow was close in a 6-4, 6-4 loss to Petr Cervinka as the Saints win a 6-1 score.
