LAKELAND, Fla. – The Florida Southern College men's tennis team get their first win of the spring 2022 season in a 6-1 win over Eckerd College in their home opener Monday afternoon at Wynee Warden Tennis Center.
The Mocs (1-2) notch sweep of the doubles competition gave the Mocs the much-desired doubles point and 1-0 lead to start singles competition.
Valentin Hertweck and
Chris Fok Kow were down 2-5 to the Eckerd pair but rallied for a 7-6 (7-5) win. A pairing of
Erik Nordblom and
Oscar Sohl won 6-3 as
Elliott Altman and
Matteo Feggi get a 6-1 victory.
In singles competition, Florida Southern performed great winning five of the six matches in two sets. The Mocs kept with the same crew for doubles into singles competition as Fok Kow won 6-2, 6-2 with Nordblom earning the same result. Feggi won his event 6-0, 6-2 with Altman in a 6-3, 6-1 victory. Hertweck battled against his Tritons opponent but dropped his two sets as Eckerd took their sole point in the match.

The Mocs travel to Winter Park to face Rollins College this Friday before another home dual meet against Bates College on Saturday at the Wynee Warden Tennis Center.
