LAKELAND, Fla. – A 7-0 shoutout win for the Florida Southern College women's tennis team in a conference matchup against Eckerd College Monday afternoon at the Wynee Warden Tennis Center.
The Mocs (1-1) earned the win after a sweep of the doubles competition built by a great team effort. The pairing of
Laura Vetter and
Mathilda Vidgren won their match 6-1, along with
Isabella Bolivar and
Maxima Ellenberg with the same result. A team of
Minnie Kim and
Vivien Charvatova won their match 6-2 and gave Florida Southern the doubles point.
For singles competition the Mocs had freshmen Ellenberg and Charvatova tally their first collegiate win with two-set victories over the Tritons. After splitting sets with her Eckerd opponent, Vetter won 10-3 in the third set as a match-winning decision. Up 3-0 in team scoring, Vidgren beat her opponent 6-2, 6-3 as the deciding win for the Mocs in their first win of the 2022 season. Bolivar won her match in a dominating 6-0, 6-1 performance. A win by Kim in a 6-1, 6-2 decision rounded out the Florida Southern women for their 7-0 shoutout.

The Mocs travel to Winter Park to face Rollins College this Wednesday before another home dual meet against Bates College on Saturday at the Wynee Warden Tennis Center.
