ORLANDO, Fla. – The Florida Southern College men's tennis team extended their win streak to seven after a 7-0 victory in a neutral site matchup against Quincy University Tuesday afternoon.
The Mocs (8-3, 1-2 SSC) won the doubles point and each of the singles flights in a dominating win on the road. The Hawks (2-8, 0-3 GLVC) were unable to tally a win while sending two flights into a third set tiebreaker.
The No. 23 doubles pair of
Valentin Hertweck and
Chris Fok Kow returned to competition together in a 6-2 win over their Hawks opponent as
Oscar Sohl and
Erik Nordblom won their flight 6-2 to seal the Moccasin doubles point. A team of
Brian Pham and
Matteo Feggi also won their flight in a 7-5 battle.
In singles competition, the Mocs handled business as they won each of the six flights. Hertweck, ranked 72
nd in the nation in singles play, won 6-0, 6-3 as the match-deciding point and victory for the Mocs.
Elliott Altman won his match in a commanding 6-0, 6-0 win, as did Nordblom in a 6-1, 6-4 flight win. Another great match win for
Hikaru Nagoshi as he won 6-0, 6-1, with the last two flights going into a third set battle. Feggi outlasted his Hawks opponent with a 13-11 tiebreaker set win and flight victory. Sohl also had quite the flight as he won in the third set with an 11-9 tiebreaker score.
