SAINT LEO, Fla. – The Florida Southern College men's tennis lose a tough battle against No. 2 Saint Leo University in a 7-0 score at the Saint Leo Tennis Center Wednesday afternoon.
The Mocs (8-4, 1-3 SSC), ranked 30
th in the latest ITA poll, fought hard against top-ranked Saint Leo, but unable to tally a point in the 7-0 loss. The Lions (13-3, 2-2 SSC) swept the doubles point and singles competition, only giving up three sets during the match.
During doubles competition,
Erik Nordblom and
Matteo Feggi battled against No. 6 pairing of Faletto and van der Akker from Saint Leo, narrowly missing out on the upset losing 6-4.
Valentin Hertweck and
Chris Fok Kow lost their flight 6-3, as did
Brian Pham and
Brandon Pham in a 6-1 decision.
In singles competition, No. 70 Hertweck went up against No. 5 Bruno Faletto, but lost in a 6-2, 6-4 decision. A tough matchup for
Elliott Altman who lost his flight 6-3, 6-2 to No. 21 Vincent Thiel as
Chris Fok Kow had a close match against No. 50 Nicolas Bacella. After losing the first set, Fok Kow rallied for a 7-5 set two win, but lost a tiebreaking third set in a 10-5 decision. Norblom lost his flight, as
Brandon Pham and
Hikaru Nagoshi each won their second set, but lost tiebreaking third sets for the 7-0 win by the Lions.

The Mocs will return home to face the University of Montevallo on Friday, set for a 1 p.m. start at the Wynee Warden Tennis Center.
