Another Win Over a Nationally Ranked Opponent for Men's Tennis

LAKELAND, Fla. – Another ranked-opponent win for the Florida Southern College men's tennis team as they win 5-2 over No. 21 University of Charleston Sunday afternoon at the Wynee Warden Tennis Center.
 
The Mocs (5-3, 1-2 SSC) have back-to-back wins over nationally ranked opponents, including set wins over top individuals and doubles pairings. The Golden Eagles (7-2) won two of the singles flights, but unable to tally more as they fall to the Moccasins.
 
A big start to the match with a doubles flight win by Valentin Hertweck and Brian Pham against No. 4 doubles team Marshall Dagostine and John Giesberts in a 6-4 win. Oscar Sohl and Erik Nordblom continued their great start to the season with a 6-4 win, good for the doubles point win for the Mocs.
 
Hertweck followed up his great doubles flight, with a three-set win over No. 19 Daniel Llorente to cap off a great end to the match by order of finish. Elliott Altman also added a ranked win in a 6-1, 6-1 victory over No. 33 Dagostine. Norblom handled his Charleston opponent with a three-set win as Sohl was the final Moccasin with a flight win on the day over Giesberts 6-1, 6-4. A close three-set match for Matteo Feggi went to the Golden Eagles, as their second point win was at battle against Pham.
 
UP NEXT
The Mocs stay in their home stand to face Northwood University this Tuesday, set for a 12 p.m. start at the Wynee Warden Tennis Center.
