LAKELAND, Fla. – The Florida Southern College men's tennis team remains undefeated at home with a 4-1 win over Northwood University Tuesday afternoon at the Wynee Warden Tennis Center.
The Mocs (6-3, 1-2 SSC) won the doubles point and took the singles flight wins on three courts. The Wolves (3-8, 0-0 GLIAC) won one of the singles flights with two additional flights going unfinished.
Pairing of
Valentin Hertweck and
Brian Pham won their set 6-4 on court one with
Oscar Sohl and
Erik Nordblom continuing their strong play with a 6-1 score. The third doubles flight went unfinished with the Mocs securing the doubles point on two of the three courts.
Nordblom was first to win his flight in a 6-1, 6-2 to continue the momentum from his doubles flight win.
Elliott Altman then won his flight in a 6-1, 6-0 decision. The match-deciding point went to court one as Hertweck took down his Northwood opponent in two sets and seal the Moccasin win. Despite a close tiebreaker third set for
Matteo Feggi, a single point went to the Wolves. With the match win confirmed to Florida Southern and poor weather in the area, the next two flights went unfinished as FSC earned their fifth straight win.
