LAKELAND, Fla. – The Florida Southern College men's tennis team unable to come out with a win in a difficult match against Lynn University Sunday afternoon at the Wynee Warden Tennis Center.
The Mocs (10-6, 2-5 SSC) The Mocs (10-6, 2-5 SSC) were unable to get a flight win against tough doubles competition, and only tallied two flight wins in singles play. The Fighting Knights (13-2, 5-1 SSC) controlled the match throughout singles and doubles, winning 5-2 in the end.
For doubles, the Mocs faced the No. 19 and No. 32 doubles pairings in the nation on courts 1 and 2.
Oscar Sohl and
Erik Nordblom took on No. 19 Kirkman and Martinez but lost 6-4.
Valentin Hertweck and
Chris Fok Kow were unable to win against Baptista and Gonzalez, the No. 32 pairing, in a 6-2 decision. In a near upset,
Matteo Feggi and
Brian Pham lost a close one 7-6 (8-6).
Similarly tough competition in singles play with a close one for Hertweck in his second set, but ultimately lost in two. Fok Kow split the first two sets against No. 40 singles Martinez but just short in third set. The two Moccasin wins came on courts five and six as
Elliott Altman won by retirement in three sets with
Brandon Pham a winner in two.
