LAKELAND, Fla. - Florida Southern women's tennis team fell in their final home match of the season to no. 27 University of West Florida, 5-2.

The 29th ranked Mocs team put up a fight in the double's point but fell at the one spot in a close match, as
Mathilda Vidgren and
Laura Vetter battled to fall just 5-7.
Minnie Kim and
Kelly Klaren had the sole doubles win for the Mocs as they took down the pairing of Irene Recuenco and Raissa Wagner.

Vetter was the first match to finish as she dropped two straight sets 6-2, and 6-0 to Recuenco.
Vivien Charvatova fell in 2 close sets to Ruecenco's doubles partner Wagner, with scores 6-4, and 6-3. West Florida clinched the match as
Isabella Bolivar fought back from being down 1-3 in the second set to lead 5-4. Bolivar just barely fell to Mayumi Saguchi, as the final scores were 6-3, 7-5.
Olivia Bryant also had a pair of close sets, but could not outlast Karolina Silwanowicz, as she fell 7-5, 6-4.

Maxima Ellenberg pulled out a win for the Mocs as she took down Luisa Daud 6-4 in the first set and a 6-0 sweep in the second set. Vidgren battled back after falling in the first set to win the second set and take the third set in a tiebreak 10-7.Â

Following the loss, the Mocs fell to 11-9 on the season and remained 3-6 in conference play.Â

The Mocs will begin the Sunshine State Conference Championship tournament on the road at Barry next Friday at 10:00 am at the IMG Academy hosted by Barry University.Â
