MELBOURNE, Fla. – For a second consecutive week, and fourth this season, the Sunshine State Conference has named Florida Southern College's Nathan Madej as Pitcher of the Week. This marks the third straight week that the Mocs have earned Pitcher of the Week as Dawson Lane earned the selection April 4^th.
 
The Lemont, Ill. native went seven innings against Lynn on Friday as he struck out 10 to earn his fifth win of the year. Madej had only one earned run as Florida Southern has won six of their last seven games. Friday night he threw 123 pitches and allowed just five hits. The Mocs won that game 5-2 to start the weekend series against the Fighting Knights and eventual back-to-back conference sweeps.
 
On the season, Madej is in the top 10 of nine different conference categories, including a conference-low 24 hits allowed and .160 opposing batting average. Seventh in the conference in ERA with 3.02, Madej has only 15 earned runs in nine appearances and 44.2 innings pitched. He is second on the team in strikeouts with 49, and has one save on the season.
 
The Mocs will host No. 10 Rollins College in a midweek non-conference matchup this Wednesday, set for 6 p.m. start at Henley Field, before traveling to face conference rival Tampa in a weekend series beginning on Friday.
